Kurou is such a bro. Everyone is babying Kuon but he tells her like it is.

Crash Bandicoot • 1 year ago

no

Nonono • 1 year ago

so you think kuro is "sis"?

Nonono • 1 year ago

by the way, who is Kuon real father exactly?
if it's hakuoro, then oboro should be her uncle, isn't it?
and where is eruru?

Cado • 1 year ago

Yeah, her biological father is Hakuowlo - it's stated pretty clearly. But she was raised by Oboro and the rest (that's why she said she had a few mothers in previous season)

Arthuras.Magrath • 1 year ago

Kuon is the biological daughter of Hakuoro and Oboro's late little sister Yuzuha.

HM • 1 year ago

ohhhh i thought that it was eruru all this time

John IV • 1 year ago

Yuzuha's the mom and not Eruru... How did that even happen? I was going under the assumption that she would've been Hakuoro and Eruru's kid up until this episode.

Typecero • 1 year ago

In the Original game, before Yuzuha dies, Oboro comes to him with the request.

Canonically, Haku and Yuzuha have sex.

Eruru is considered her “true” mom (based on how Eruru is tied to a God by a promise to save Aruru in the first game) compared to the other female characters that we know from the first series.

Just a passing by bear • 1 year ago

Though I recalled she called Hakuowlo "Darling" in the end of the 2nd, so they likely flirted like hell in that temple of theirs, though why do I feel so annoyed thinking about!?

John IV • 1 year ago

Thank you for the info, because I was sitting through the whole first part of the new series being completely sure that Eruru was Kuon's mom solely based on the fact that the chemistry was so damn high between Hakuoro and Eruru in the first series...not to mention that Kuon's pushy mothery nature seemed like an extreme version of Eruru.

Arthuras.Magrath • 1 year ago

I don't know, I've read the original Utawarerumono VN on wiki fandom. Oboro dotes on her, because she is Yuzuha's legacy. But out of all Hakuoro's harem, Kuon is really close to Eruru.

Carlos Sánchez • 1 year ago

I think that's it, Oboro raised like a daughter and I don't think Kuon herself is aware Oboro is not her bio dad, maybe they had a "tenshi" ending where he married them all

Nonono • 1 year ago

ooh,.. because it sound pretty weird when oboro said she's his daughter when yuzuha is the mother, it's felt like an incest
so what the meaning of Tenshi anyway?
I don't play the game so I don't know what tenshi ending

Carlos Sánchez • 1 year ago

oh , when I said "tenshi ending" I mean it as refence of Tenshi Muyo!, I don't know how canon that is but there is a photo where he's surrounded by his love interests dressed in wedding dresses while in a white tux
I was making a comparison in that maybe Hakuoro also married all of his love interests

RainZ • 1 year ago

this may contain some spoiler but if you guys dont mind it just read it and tell me what you guys felt. for those who curious about the song when oboro hug kuon is Koi Yume by SUARA
anyone who want to feel the sadness more when kuon was hugged by oboro i suggest you guys watch the utawarerumono mask of deception vn ending on youtube. its gonna hit you guys hard

Nanaten • 1 year ago

If anyone wondering
In the VN, this is the prologue of the story and serves as a proper recap of the previous game/season. It's jarring that the studio decides to put this on the fourth episode, considering the people who jump into the show have no clue to what's going on.
My guess on the next episode they're going to do Kuon vs Anju scene. But that would mean putting the scenes with Oshtor's mother way further back on later episodes.

Anonymous Person • 1 year ago

I give it 95% chance that they won't show Oshtor's mother enough for that one scene to have an emotional impact. Just like they didn't have Anju watching the war last episode and skipping her development moment... And just like they aren't showing the inner struggle of Nekone where she starts seeing Haku as her real brother and feels like she is betraying Oshtor's memory... It's like they have no idea what is important for the story and what isn't sigh

i was... expecting the voice but somehow, it got worse? I just... idk man, i feel like it could been better, like Protoss telepathy voice better you know? but then we got.... this.

Kuon: "I don't remember anything." Pft. Casual. :P

Ah, it was great seeing these characters again! I am SO looking forward to seeing what's coming!

best show rn

A war between Yamato, descendants of the old human, the Mikado, and Tuskuru, descendants of their god, Uitsualnemetia

Cado • 1 year ago

I like the picture you paint, but the people living in Tuskuru and Yamato don't really differ in origin. If anything it's the opposite, as there is only one descendant of old humans - and she's from Tuskuru

galvind • 1 year ago

ii's so great to see kuon back again and with a mature voice😆

Esminets • 1 year ago

So it's just that she speaks differently now? Or is she possessed or some shit?

RainZ • 1 year ago

the milk tanks in this episode really has my ears smoking i should be in that bath

STAX • 1 year ago

I think it's time to drop this, I don't even know how this connects to last episode. All these other people I don't even know other than Kuon even if they were in other seasons.
Too much brain power to try and remember all the things.
Too bad, this show could be so good.

the Finance Guy • 1 year ago

Why don't you rewatch the first 2 season again?

Typecero • 1 year ago

That’s great. Really gonna sell the season when a requirement is “know all 50 episodes of the original”.

This is why we’re sitting at less than 100 comments. It was inevitable, but years later expecting everyone to remember why these characters are here/there, what their situations are, and then keep up with current plot goingons…

Not a recipe for success I would say!

Forky • 1 year ago

Kurou just stands there and exposits about what happened at the end of the last season for people who forgot. They aren't exactly leading you blind.

I support your sarcastic sass though. XD

the Finance Guy • 1 year ago

You don't even need to watch that many episode of the previous season to get caught up. All you need to do is watch the second half of the 2nd season and you're all caught up. First half of the 2nd season was just slice of life stuff (getting to know Haku, etc.). The second half of the season is the main story that connect to this season.

Cado • 1 year ago

Tbh I prefer that to spending time on recaps. This IS a continuation so if you COMPLETELY don't remember the story and characters - what's the point in watching third season?

Typecero • 1 year ago

And therein lies the problem: for future watchers going from Season 1 to S2 with all the episodes, that works…

But then you have the “here and now” viewers.

So you now have a series that is currently running that cannot gain new viewers. Shutting out new viewers ain’t doing you any favors.

Tiger and Bunny introduced an entire cast of characters in their new sequel season, and it worked wonderfully. Characters even had episodes dedicated to them so you can refresh yourself with them.

So now we have this dilemma of not bringing in new blood, but also people returning from the several-year break of Mask of Deception…

The viewers’ is not at fault for not remembering the story after that long. What, everyone just stopped watching other anime so they could store the memory of this one series for its inevitable return?

The series got thrown on the back burner for most of the anime community because of these factors, and that’s not something to be defended by offering “this is a continuation” excuse. Refresh the memory of your audience in a way that is creative (tiger and bunny example from before), and you can grow your audience on top of continuing your series.

…or we can just let this wonderful series fade into obscurity. That’s fine too.

Cado • 1 year ago

Those are fair points and I agree - smart, fast recap would be ideal (but is also hard to execute). I don't blame anyone who drops this due to the problems you mentioned. I'm just afraid that time and budget constraints would be too much strain on the quality of final product. So out of the two I prefer more screen time for actual source material.

STAX • 1 year ago

That's why it's too much of an ask. Why should I put in all that work? To try and make more sense of an extremely convoluted story that can't even bother to take things slow for the audience after it's been so long? I don't think that's very fair to us viewers to expect us to spend that much time on a show.

Carlos Sánchez • 1 year ago

one thing you have to understand is that both Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen and Futari no Hakuoro are sequels of og Utawarerumono that came all the way back in 2006
these characters are that series party and Quon is the daughter of the Mc of that series (Hakuoro), the one she calls "father" is actually her uncle, brother of her deceased mother, for the reason (the plot of that series) her parents are no longer... present so all of these guys raised her like a daughter
all that being said this episode is saying "meanwhile in Tuskur!"

Forky • 1 year ago

It connects to the last episode by seeing what happened to Kuon. These other people don't matter if you don't remember/know them, you can just take them at face value.
If you wanna know them, find out. If you don't, ignore it. You just have to pay attention to this episode to understand it. They beat you over the head with information.

Gizmo 2024 • 1 year ago

Kind of bored. I barely remember most of the characters, and so much of them look so damn aesthetically similar, with similar voices. I think when I began this anime eons ago, I expected an epic adventure, but its turned into sims civil war w/cutesy wutesy characters. I dont think I care if all 3 capitals burns to a crisp. The show has given me no reason to. Yet, I want to like it... I just don't.

eksil • 1 year ago

I suggest that you just drop the show dude, for your own sake so you don't waste time on a show you don't in enjoy.
